This program draws inspiration from dreams and legends, spanning from the myth of Apollo and the Muses of ancient Greece to the living legends of the 20th century, the tango musicians Carlos Gardel and Astor Piazzolla, formidable musicians who led extraordinary lives. With composers from three continents, this program pays homage to musical traditions of the past. "Orgamun Light" by the Bulgarian composer Dobrinka Tabakova is a work immersed in the sounds of the Middle Ages, while "Last Round" by Osvaldo Golijov establishes a connection between the iconic tango instrument, the bandoneon, and the famous brawls of Astor Piazzolla. The serene music of the neo-classical ballet "Apollo Musagète" by Igor Stravinsky is presented here in a new intimate arrangement by Julian Azkoul, the director of United Strings of Europe. "Il sogno," Antonio Vivaldi's dream from his famous Four Seasons, introduces a brilliant nonet by the Finnish composer Olli Mustonen, reminiscent of great romantic masterpieces such as Franz Schubert's String Quintet and Felix Mendelssohn's Octet. Blending multiple cultures, this program showcases the virtuosity of the musicians of United Strings of Europe and will captivate all music enthusiasts, both novice and seasoned audiences.
